Philosophy of Wholy Love
Spiritual
Most 18 to 22 year olds have little to no interest in discussing eternity. Especially since the average person of that age is still “immortal”.
The way we choose to live and the person we strive to become has a lot to do with what we believe. Even if we don’t realize that we quietly respect “Gregory House” and therefore act in a manner commensurate with “you are an idiot” and “everyone lies”, we are actually acting on our beliefs.
It is our goal to bring those beliefs to the light of day. We cannot hold to something as true if we are afraid that it cannot hold up to questioning. If our beliefs are to be strengthened, we need to be able to defend them.
Many kids in the foster system have “Magical Thinking” where there core beliefs come from something they consider as a private promise. For example, “If I behave well enough in this foster home, I can get back to my real home.” That belief does not take into consideration the reality of why they were removed from their biological home and placed in a foster home.
If core beliefs are verbalized they can be held to the light and examined for truth. This clearly can work hand and hand with psychology to reveal the hidden cause of our beliefs. When beliefs are exposed then each individual can determine what they hold as truth.
Promises lead to hope. Hope develops into faith. Faith leads to a foundation for our choices and action which we direct towards love.
